Sabian Vault Crystal Ride Cymbal
The Sabian Vault Crystal Ride Cymbal was created by Sabian in a partnership with Ed Thigpen, one of America’s top jazz drummers. Thigpen has performed with various jazz bands and singers for years, and he has played a number of different ride cymbals. However, he found all of them were lacking something, and so he gladly accepted Sabian’s invitation to create the Sabian Vault Crystal Ride Cymbal. This cymbal provides everything a jazz player might ever want, plus it’s versatile enough to work for several other types of music, too. Rock and heavy metal might be out, but it can certainly work nicely for pop, country, and some alternative in addition to jazz.What we Found
The Vault Crystal Ride itself has a very flat profile with a flanged edge. Thigpen designed the cymbal this way so that drummers would get a very minimized amount of overtones. This creates a dry, musical response that is very shimmering and controlled. This cymbal’s uniqueness won’t cost a lot—it’s actually less than many of Sabian’s premium cymbals. All in all, the Sabian Vault Crystal Ride Cymbal is certainly a great jazz cymbal and lives up to everything you’d expect in a ride created by such a great jazz player.
