Sabian Paragon Ride Cymbal
The Sabian Paragon Ride Cymbal was developed via a partnership with Sabian and Rush drummer Neil Peart. Peart now only plays Paragon Rides. This ride has been personalized by Peart to provide everything he needs. They are extra-heavy, weight in at over eight pounds, and they’re 22 inches in diameter. They have a very clear, strong stick definition, and they’re incredibly dynamic, sensitive, and bright as well. The Paragon Ride is lathed using two different types of lathing—AA on the bottom and AAX on the top. This gives the hand-hammered cymbal and bell the clean and cutting response that they’re known for. The Paragon Rides are made from B20 bronze and completely hand crafted to Peart’s specifications. What we Found
Peart’s signature cymbals were created using an automatic process that makes use of AA style hammering. This hammering created a very interesting combination of features from three of Sabian’s lines—the AA, AAX, and HH specifically. This gives the Paragon many of the best features of all three, including a very dynamic response, a great durability, and a very wide range of tones and sounds. The cymbals are then given a natural finish and a special logo that declares the cymbal a part of the Sabian line.
