Sabian HHX Legacy Ride Cymbal
The Sabian HHX Legacy Ride Cymbal is one of the darker, trashy sounding cymbals in the Sabian line. It’s a medium to heavy weight cymbal that, in addition to functioning as a great ride, can also be used as a crash. It’s got great stick definition, a nice was to it, and an interesting darkness. The cymbal features an unlathed control band that helps to limit the tonal spread. The Legacy series of ride cymbals was created by Sabian and drummer Dave Weckl. They were designed to showcase Weckl’s darker sounds and tones and to contrast with Weckl’s Sabian Evolution line, which features his brighter tones.What we Found
Weckl finds the Legacy cymbals great for providing vibrant, beautiful tones, and the Tone Texture feature brings in more of the musical colour that he loves. Drummers also love the Legacy line since it brings in a richness to their drumming that is often missing. When it comes to types of music, the Sabian HHX Legacy Ride works really well for jazz, blues, funk, pop, country, fusion, and some rock; however, heavy rock and metal players probably won’t find this ride that useful. All in all, though, the Legacy ride is a great cymbal for those who don’t mind spending the money on it.
