Meinl Byzance Extra Dry Medium Ride Cymbal
Handmade in Turkey in the Meinl plant, the Meinl Byzance Extra Dry Medium cymbal is a very distinctive cymbal. The 20" has a lot higher pitch than the 22" which has a fuller sound. The Byzance Extra Dry its cast from B20 bronze which is 80% copper 20% tin which creates a dark response with very little wash. Jazz players will love this cymbal. What we Found
Like all dark cymbals, the Extra Dry Medium Ride is not lathed or treated so as to produce their unique sound. It's completely hand-hammered and has a very raw, very earthy tone to them thanks to the bronze they’re made from.
Conclusion
You won’t find any wash in these cymbals. Instead, you’ll get a short sustain (very short) and stick definition that come from the hammer marks that have been layered with a traditional hammering technique. These cymbals are great for use in the studio or at home, and they are versatile enough for pop, country, Latin, fusion, rock—basically anything you want to play. These are incredibly versatile ride cymbals. The Meinl Byzance Extra Dry Medium cymbals are available in 20 or 22 inch versions.
